Underneath the glitz and glamour of a cosmopolitan city, there are always neglected and unsolved problems. Housing crisis has been a prolonged issue in Hong Kong, substandard accommodations such as squatters, subdivided units, and sheet metal houses are still common nowadays. Because of the unaffordable high rental fees and long queues for public housing, many residents have no choice but to live in subdivided units. The limited living space in subdivided units created huge restraints on residents’ daily life. Physical movements such as turning around or standing up can be a hard task for them and privacy is another concern. With the support of Hong Kong Arts Development Council, Project Space is able to develop “Box Story”, an application that aims to raise public awareness, especially children, of the issue of Hong Kong subdivided houses.
